Pedagogy & Goals

Larson Learning® is designed as a set of tools for teachers that make the teacher more effective and efficient in meeting the needs of all students. This allows teachers to provide opportunities for students that are impractical without an enabling technology. With more math than any other instructional software, Larson Learning® applies several research-based methods that support and extend other forms of instruction.

	Feedback is consistent and dominated by positive responses to motivate student’s growth in understanding.
	Tasks are scaffolded within each topic proceeding from interactive instruction to guided practice to mastery and assessment.
	A balanced presentation of concrete and abstract ideas is provided.
	Instructional presentations and practice have clearly-stated, predictable expectations and objectives.
	Students learn to communicate mathematically as they describe the process used to solve a problem.
	"Write Its" and journal prompts allow teachers to assess students' thought processes.
	The problem solving sections as well as the varied topics in the "Get Reals" draw on students' interest and real-world knowledge.
